Leap Year Celebration IdeasSince Leap Year only comes around every four years, I try to make something that can only be quartered like quesadilla or something with only four ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. gin
  • 1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
  • 1/2 oz. vermouth
  • 1/4 oz. fresh lemon juice, saving a twist of the lemon peel

Directions:

Place a martini glass into the freezer for 5 minutes to chill. Put the gin, Grand Marnier, vermouth and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice, and then shake the mixture vigorously for 30 seconds to combine. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass and garnish with the twist of lemon peel; serve immediately.

I need ideas, games, and activities for 4th graders at my daughter's birthday party. It is leap year so I am going with a 'Hoppy' Birthday/green and pink theme. At 11 years old, they are not little kids but not teenagers, so nothing to kiddie.

How about a "Sock Hop" with oldies music, old (to them) and ask the guests to dress for the '50's/'60's! Rent some movies from the era, use a lot of cheap crepe paper and balloons, and maybe an ice cream bar with soda glasses for "floats"!

Let the kids make their own and have a cake to go with it all! Oh, yeah, the girls must ask their own dates! At that age, they may just want it single gender though!

My son is turning 18 this year. I want to know of any ideas for a birthday celebration. He graduates high school this year, also. I think the frog theme is too juvenile for him. We celebrate on February 28 and March 1. His dad wanted it in February since his birthday is in February and I argued that if it was a leap year his birthday would be the day after February 28, so he gets two days of celebration when it's not a leap year. Just looking for something awesome for such an awesome son.
