While I am watching cable/satellite TV, I can never remember which channel is which (AMC, TBS, MTV, etc). Now I cut and tape the channels (from provider's website) on the back of every remote. No more guessing.

The TV remote has disappeared again! So annoying! Has anyone seen or constructed something that is a transparent case which holds the remote and is attached to a coiled wire linked to a piece of furniture preventing travel out of the room?

on that invention show..someone attached a wide ribbon to the back, leaving a length of a couple feet...that way if it slips in between the cushions...you can still see the ribbon. or if you want to be fancy: get one of those car key finders...glue it on and put the finders remote in a drawer where you can always get it.
I know this will be funny, but it kinda makes a "wild" kind of sense. My 11-year-old step-son had what I thought was a brilliant idea if only somebody could figure out how to make it work. He thinks couches should hang from the ceiling like a porch swing and the TV remote could hang there right beside it. It would never get lost again!
Ok, this isn't a solution, but a question for manufacturers. Why don't remotes come with a beeper, and TV's come with a button you can push to make the darn remote beep so you can find it?
I finally bought a second remote. I can usually find one or the other.
You might try the Glad Wrap cling that you press together to make a bag for it, then punch a hole in the corner, reinforce it with tape or glue and then take a length of ribbon and attach with a pin. Put another pin on the other side of the ribbon and pin to the couch.
Let us know what works.
Remotes are in a ziploc bag, sewn down the middle to make 2 separate compartments so they don't hit each other. A coiled wire is attached to the bag and to a string encircling the coaster holder.
Try turning them over. I think the buttons keep them from falling as easy.I do this all the time. I hope this helps you as much as it has me.

My M-I-L is bedridden and is always losing the remote. Also, when the phone rings, she has problems finding a pen and paper on her bedside table. I purchased an inexpensive binder-type day planner with a front pocket that usually holds your cell phone. I filled the inside with pre-punched lined note paper and placed SEVERAL pens in the inside pocket. Her remote slips in the cell phone compartment on the front of the planner. Now she always knows where everything is :) iggits
I bought a remote caddy and "trained" my hubby to ALWAYS put the remotes there. My motto pick a place for something an ALWAYS put it back when done, and you will always FIND it.
There is a TV with a beep. You have to whistle to make it beep. My dog could actually bark at a level where the remote would beep and he would go to it. Great little poodle, my Paddy. But, for myself I wonder why we cannot have reading glasses that beep when you whistle. The technology must exist by now. That TV was at least 20 years old and only 100 were produced. Will let you know the name and will write and ask them if they still produce. I put a basket next to my favorite chair and try to put the remotes in there, at least at night before I go to bed and before I go out. I keep my nail file, some polish and remover, hand cream, pain killers, pens, scissors and anything else that seems suitable as I go - looks nice and hides a bunch of mess.
Where to you keep your remote controls? I have 3 different ones for my living room TV and DVD. I have a contemporary living room style with leather sofas and would like to organize them nice and neatly.

It takes too long to find remote controls in their usual hiding spot, between cushions on the sofa. If you're looking for a more convenient place to keep them, put a wide-mouth vase or other good-looking container on your side table, and put all of your remotes inside or a small basket, good luck.
I don't know if such a thing exists anymore or not but years and years ago I bought a remote where you could program TV, VCR player and Cable box on just that one remote control. I simply placed that 'one' on my coffee table or next to the TV system and stored the original controls in a drawer in case they were needed in the future.
You can look for a nice decorative box/chest to hold them, that you set on your coffee table. It keeps them close by, keeps everything looking neat, and you always know where to find them.
We have two TVs, one in the living room and one in the back bedroom. When my living room remote (a universal that's programmed to control both the TV and satellite) isn't in my left pocket for convenient access, here's our storage plan:
The original remote for my TV is in a small compartment of my entertainment center. It's still around if I ever need it, but out of the way. Hubby's remotes, on the other hand, are usually lined up on the small table nearest his chair: universal satellite/TV, original, and DVD-VCR combo unit. Our satellite provider has informed us they have no programming codes for combo units.
As you can see, hubby's and my plans are very different, lol! Hope I've given you an idea or two, though.
