Sweet Popcorn Recipes

Candy Coated PopcornGreat for parties, or special occasions. You can choose any colors you like. In this recipe I used blue and brown. If there is a certain theme, choose those colors.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag unpopped popcorn
  • 2 (12 oz.) bags Wilton candy melts (1 blue and 1 brown)

Directions:

First start off by popping your bag of popcorn, set aside until needed.

Pour 6 oz. of the blue candy melts into a small microwaveable bowl. Place in the microwave for 60 seconds. Stir. It may need 10 more seconds, it depends on your microwave, but if the chocolates are all smooth and melted it is done. Do the same for the brown chocolate melts.

Pour the popcorn to make an even layer, in a glass pan. With a spoon drizzle the blue all over the popcorn until gone. Then do the same with the brown.

Place in the freezer for about 15 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened.

When I was a kid we would soak the kernels in red and green food coloring at Christmas time then let dry a few days before we popped it for popcorn balls. You could probably do the same.

You can drizzle food dye over the kernels and then pop.

I had some huckleberry glazed popcorn, by Killian Corn, inc. I am wondering if anyone has a recipe that would be comparable, to the one they use, or perhaps the exact one they use. this would be wonderful.

Hi,
I'd use some huckleberry syrup, pour over some popped corn and crisp up in the oven for an hour at 250. Stir every 15 minutes or so. You could try a little at first to test. You might want to add some corn syrup or honey to the syrup to make it thicker. I've never had their huckleberry corn but do think this would make something similar.

Here's a recipe for Orange Glazed Corn

Ingredients:

2/3 cup orange juice
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/8 cup white corn syrup
1 grated rind of an orange
1/2 cup popcorn -- popped (pop 1/2 cup of popcorn so the measurement will be much larger when corn is popped.)

In heavy saucepan, put the orange juice, sugar, corn syrup and rind. Cook over a moderate heat until it reaches 280F on a candy thermometer. Pour over popped corn.
