We have a very small raised plot veggie garden. It will hold about 3 squash plants and a tomato plant. I am looking at planting it with something which would return every year rather than planting it annually. What would be a plant I could use? The only one I can think of is asparagus. I don't like rhubarb.

How about berries. Blue, black and rasberry bushes are available now in most garden centers. I don't know your area but they are perrenial in zone 6.
We already have a blueberry bush, but some nice thornless blackberries really does sound great! I had not thought of that! Thanks!
Where do you live? Strawberries are perennial in a mild enough climate. Check out a garden catalog - you can probably find a whole section on perennial fruits and vegetables.
