I bought my Auto Cool last summer (2006). By the time it arrived, summer was over so I put it up. I just brought it out last week (July 2007) and it's such a joke. Like others have posted, the little fan does spin, but that's it. It does not cool the car in any way whatsoever. Don't waste your money on this one.

Our Fox station in the DFW area has a deal or dud segment and these were a big dud.

JUNK! I went to Canadian (Crappy) Tire to check this out on sale for $15. The shelf was empty or I would have taken one look at it and put it back. Instead, I asked the service desk and she took the time to find one so I bought it. MISTAKE.

I opened the box and confirmed that it was junk but I love gadgets so I tried it out. I put the window up once and the thing burst into pieces. You would think they would design the thing to withstand the typical power window motor. JUNK. Can you say refund?

I bought one of these about twenty years ago. Like today's reviewers, I found that the fan spins, but it doesn't move enough air to make up for closing the windows. I've been eyeing them lately, thinking that if they're still selling them, they must have improved them so they do some good!

(sigh) Glad I saw this tip before I bought one.

In our 100+ heat, returning to my car can cause a mini-asthma attack. When I use the Auto Cool fan, that doesn't happen; the car is still hot, but the air is breathable without the gasping and pain. It probably only makes a few degrees difference, but it DOES make one, and it is helpful. (Maybe I have a different brand?) I have found it helpful, and have recommended it to others in the same situation.

Thanks for all your posts, I was excited to see this advertised on TV, because I'd see ONE THAT REALLY WORKED, (or at least it LOOKED like it worked) on "Americas best inventions" (or a TV show called something like that) Anyway, this one was built by a Preteen boy, so they could keep the car cool when they left the family dog for a short periods in the car. (Yes! I know you aren't supposed to leave pets in hot cars!) The mom had said how great it worked for them, & how well it cooled their car down. (But, then, She's the Mom, what's she supposed to say?...) But, this one looked to me like it was more of a mini car window "air conditioner", not so much a "solar fan"... When I saw this kid had built a successful, working model, I thought, BOY-OH-BOY! I sure hope THOSE come to the market, because I would like to have one (or more) for my mobile home, AND one for my car too!

---> It's a GREAT idea, anyway... A portable, mini air conditioner. How many of you out there would like to have a WORKING one of these for your small camping trailers or a truck shell camper? Now someone just needs to invent & market a GOOD one!

*** I have to say that I DID find some very nice fans that run on batteries or a cigarette lighter in the camping isle at Walmart last week... You'd need rechargeable batteries, because they only run for 12 hours on high on 2 D' batteries. They had 3 brands to choose from. They run from $12 to $30.

-- A fan like this could really help cool a hot tent! For those of you who can't take the heat any more... Like me, this may be an option. (they're about 1 foot x 1 foot)

Thank goodness I spotted this website. I was jus getting ready to place an order from a catalog. It's always summer where I live and any relief in the car helps, but for $23 I would have been pissed blue.

Thanks for sharing your experiences and sparing me the horror.

I don't get it. So someone invents this "Auto Cooler" and it doesn't even work, yet they still sell them. What? How is this possible? It's like, well, you you make it, it doesn't matter if it works or not, just make it and you can sell it. That's just stupid. I've read enough negative comments here to trust that I will just save my money. darn, and I really wanted to buy one too!

The minimal amount of air moved by this fan makes it an issue whether you should take the trouble to install one if you get it given to you free. The installation instructions warn you against using it in rainy weather. Certainly, in a severe storm, the holes around it would let in more rain than you'd want, making up for any sunny weather benefit.

To keep your car cool in hot summer day, you have a better choice, you can go to www.lekasunshade.com, it works.

Junk! Save your $$$. Gimmick to get your money and they are betting you won't bother sending it back when it doesn't work. That's how they make money. Cheap! Cheap! Cheap!

I bought one, thinking it would be good for the car, and it wasn't, however, I took it to our sailboat and hung it in a porthole. The fan part worked well to circulate air through the boat when we we gone. It did not have access to fresh air, which was fine. I hoped it would help keep any mustiness out of the cabin and it seemed to help. It also helped when we were anchored out and needed a little more circulation in the cabin. It wasn't what I expected, but it helped keep the living quarters a bit cooler and cleaner air.

Hey, I received " Notice of proposed class action settlement and settlement hearing" When this "fraudulent and misleading" case goes to trial, we will get a $10.00 gift certificate that can be used as credit for other products from www.AutoCoolSettlement.com.

Will I be a sucker more than once with this company? I vaguely remember buying about 4 of these in 07. Ouch! It's still hot!

At least it is not only myself after reading the feedback of a lot of people that got fooled by the auto cool, did someone said april fooled!

I know there are some more people out there, they may not even gonna answered back to this because they don't have the time or because they don't want no body to know that someone has fooled a lot of innocents including them.
Can I have my money back? or something better please. The economy is bad P/s don't make the people waste the money. Thank you.

Editor's Note: We, of course, have nothing to do with this or any other product. How they are still able to sell these is beyond me. I would call your state's attorney or attorney general and see if you can get your money back.
