Using A George Foreman Grill

George Forman Grill to Make Bear PawsI have little counter space so everything on it has to be a useful appliance! I regularly make grilled cheese or grilled vegetables on an open George Foreman grill or zucchini fritters on it. This weekend, I decided to try to make waffles!

I just used my Bisquick for the batter and poured a small circle onto the upper portion of the heated grill and let it run down the grill a bit. Don't add too much! I did close it and turned the waffles after the top was slightly browned in some areas.

They turned out looking like Bear Paws to me so that's what I now call them! You could name them Pet Paws or Monster Claws around Halloween, which is coming up!

I've included pics of both the Bear Paws and the zucchini fritters (which were incredible too!) Enjoy!

How do you release George Forman grill top if button does not release it?

You have to grasp the handles on either side of the top cooking plate in the lid and then pull both handles. If it doesn't work, then I think the top cooking plate is broken and you'll need the replacement parts, call 1-800-738-0245.

First: be sure your grill is unplugged.
Your button has probably gotten 'dirty' from use and if it has fat/oil making it dirty then it probably will 'freeze' up when the grill is cold.
Are you trying the button on a cold or warm machine?
Be sure the grill is unplugged.
I would try wringing out a dishcloth/washcloth in warm/hot water and lay it over the button - let it rest on the button for several minutes and then try the button. It may take more than one time.

Mine had that problem. Unplugged of course, I would just pull on the latch itself if button not working. Do to each side to get it off.

I think this happened because the top plate have not been properly placed. Check it. I think the top can be pulled out, but this must be done carefully so as not to damage it.

Before repairing your George Foreman Grill, check when its warranty period ends. The George Foreman Grill usually has a 1-3 year limited warranty.

If it happened during the warranty period it is better to contact the manufacturer.

I have been using my Foreman Grill a lot this summer to cook chicken breasts. Anyone have any tips or recipes? I tried to cook with a little marinade on it but it was a little over too burnt once the chicken had cooked through. Anyway, thought I would see if anyone else is using the grill and if they are having success with it.

I am using an old Elmer's Rubber Cement Jar with brush attached to lid, that has been WELL CLEANED, to hold oil so I can lightly brush the GF Grill before plugging in to heat.

Seems to be working quite well for me! Quick and easy.

When grilling bacon, use a square metal cake pan under the lip of the grill, instead of the small drip pans that come with the grill.

Bacon is very greasy.

I spray the grill with Pam before heating. After using and unplugging, I immediately put a double layer of wet paper towels on it, close lid and when it is cool it is a breeze to clean.

I love to cook my bacon in the microwave between a couple of pieces of paper towels. Read the instructions on the back of the bacon package.

Make sure it is good and clean, and not sticking to old food. Then before use, spray it with PAM or a product similar to PAM.

The finish may be wearing off. Put oil on a paper towel and wipe it on the plates before you turn it on to use it.
