I know his mother is Lab and Heeler, but the father is unknown.
OMG! What a face!!! I love him!!!
There could be some Basenji!! That curled tail is classic!
Have the vet weigh in because he/she can see what I can't like the hips, jaws, and teeth!!
Post back what you learn!! 100% Heinz 57 adorable in my book!! Wishing you many blessings and adventures together!
I personally think after pulling up photos of the mix breed of Lab & Basenji, I truly believe that your assumption may be correct. Of course you will not know for sure , without DNA.
The present parents may be lab and Basenji but I believe there are other breeds in his past.
He seems to have more Basenji - smooth coat, sharp stand up ears, long smooth nose, curled tail than a lab - in fact I see very little lab but some of that may show up later in his build, height and weight.

Certainly a beautiful dog.
A vet can tell a little more as they can see the face, build, height and weight but only a DNA test will tell you what mixed breeds he has in his background. Some people like having a DNA test as the results give a lot of details about what to expect health wise as your dog gets older.
The most important thing you can do for your pup is to be sure he has all of his shots/vaccinations as these are crucial to his good health.

This is a beautiful dog and you are so lucky to have him. I can see some Basenji in the dog which seems to be more noticeable than the lab in the dog. I do believe the father was a mixed breed and there could be a few other breeds in the dog beside the lab and basenji.
Hi,
Thank you so much for sharing your sweet darling pet! I do see Basenji in him. I remember when we were helping to find a home for another Basenji and this one looks just like him. Does he bark or howl?
Give him a hug from me!
Have a blessed day!
I rescued him from the streets when he was a pup. He had been used as a bait dog. He is pictured here with his "mini me".
We got her from a foster parent when she was 3 months old. Kimmy loves to eat our living room, literally. She will chew on the couch for hours!
Dakota was from a shelter and Willow was from a rescue. They like to run around the back yard at full tilt.
Emmie was roaming the streets of San Antonio just a few days ago. Our neighbors found her with only her siblings and saved the best one for us! We brought her home late Sunday night.
We adopted her from an animal shelter when she was 5 months old. She loves to go on walks, wrestle, run, cuddle, play hide and seek, and ride on the blanket as the kids drag the blanket across the floor.
I had just found out that I had cancer and was laying in bed, at 7:00am when my friend told me that I had a dog in my flower bed. He said it is just a puppy.
We got him last week from an online post! He likes to bark, dig, and chase his tail!
