Photos of Garden Insects

June 22, 2011

Look what I found sitting on my sunflower leaf! I smiled when I saw him there, as I ran to get my camera hoping he would still be there. When I got back he was, and he posed for this picture before he walked away in the direction of a bug. :) He walked off my sunflower leaf onto my railing when I took this second picture of him. I believe he was on his way to lunch.

He is my new garden helper and my friend. I don't use chemicals so it was a blessing seeing him. I know he eats mites, aphids and other insects that eat my flowers. I think he's pretty cool looking don't you?

I ran across this little guy in my yard. He was quite obliging and let me take 53 pictures of him. I also love the bright green against the orange flower.

This appears to be a very happy bee, nestling into an abundance of its favorite food. It was so intent on what it was doing, it didn't seem to notice the presence of me or the camera.

I sure got some great shots of some of the dragonflies in my backyard. We had all colors, red, gold, black, and white just to name a few of them.

This one is sitting on my butterfly bush. If you look real close you can see the eyes. I enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed all of my butterflies.

This is a page about wasp and hornet photos. Despite their negative reputation, wasps and hornets can be quite beautiful and make an excellent photo subject.

This cute bug loves crawling around on the many milkweed plants that grow every year in my back yard. It gets along well with other buggy visitors, such as honey bees, bumble bees, and wasps.
