Last year, early one morning, I put together and posted a very nice tour of a few of my flowers in bloom. This tour was not planned, so don't expect anything fancy.
This is what my garden is all about. The beautiful colors, smells, and tastes! It is like a piece of artwork when we harvest!
I inherited the love of flowers and gardening from my dad. After years of planting impatiens I was hit with the impatien wilt. I read about the new Bounce impatiens which were a hybrid created to replace the impatiens destroyed by the wilt.
We tried lots of new veggies in the garden this year including spaghetti squash. Yum! Great year for apples too. Wishing you all a wonderful autumn!
My mom loves to garden. She takes real pride in her plants and is always taking care of them.
A John Denver Song comes to mind when I see how my garden has grown.
While walking through my field, I spotted the above creature. I thought 'Oh my goodness! A possum has found one of the rats I buried. It decided the rat wasn't so delectable after all, and left it be.
This is our wildlife garden. The bushes, pond, and pond plants all provide habitats for many wild creatures such as insects, birds, and frogs. Bug boxes are located in various places for insects to overwinter. Some of the grass is also left uncut to create cover for small creatures to hide in.
During the summer, I had beautiful sunflowers growing. I will seed sunflowers again next season.
Last year my grandson and I cut down several forsythia shrubs along the northern edge of the side yard. The stumps still need to dealt with. This year I have focused on planting two lilac bushes further into the yard to ultimately help reestablish a green border between my yard and my neighbor's. There will also be a native mock orange placed along this same line, soon.
This page contains summer garden flower photos. Garden blooms are a fun to photograph and can brighten up any day year round.
