Following my 70th birthday, my four grown children got together and sent me a beautifully hand-decorated box of little slips of paper where they'd written a Thank-You for something I'd taught them.
For Mother's Day, I suggested that my grown kids not send me the usual flowers and such. I asked them to go pay one month of my cell phone coverage ($35.00) so that I can continue to talk daily.
For Mother's Day 7 years ago, my husband and sons picked several rose bushes to plant for me in my "Mother's Day" Garden. It has bloomed beautifully since then and it was great to have all 4 sons and my husband work together on a project for me.
For Mother's Day, after quizzing my mom about what she wanted/needed, one of the things my mom requested was a joke book. I considered checking a used bookstore for a unique and inexpensive joke book but am making one myself for cheap!
