I love cooking with taco seasoning! I do NOT love paying an arm and a leg for each tiny little envelope. In one of my cookbooks, I found a recipe for homemade taco seasoning. The first thing I thought when I tasted it was, "Where have you been all my life?"
Not only does it taste better than pre-packaged, it is super quick, easy and cheap! It is also better for you, as it does not have preservatives in it. I figure each serving costs me around 35 cents. Compared to about $1.50 a serving that I usually pay, I'm doing a happy dance.:)
Try it, you won't be disappointed! This would make a nice gift in a jar tied with pretty ribbon as well.

This will season 1 to 1-1/2 pounds of ground meat. I like things really spicy so you may want to half the recipe if you don't.
This is nice to have on hand when you don't have a packet of taco seasoning mix. I make it and put in a jar. I also keep the recipe in the jar. That way when I run out, I don't have to hunt up the recipe.
This is not a highly spiced seasoning. It works for someone who might prefer a milder seasoning. Mix it up in a bowl and store it in a jar in your pantry.
Great for seasoning tacos or chili. It's cheaper to make this mix yourself than it is to buy it at the grocery store.
Combine all ingredients and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for five minutes. Pack in sterilized jars. Be sure to use all the liquid.
Really easy and versatile with ground meat or cooked chicken to make a dish tasty and fast.
In a bowl combine all ingredients. Store in an airtight container for up to 6 months. Makes about 1/2 cup total.
You can make non-spicy/kid friendly homemade taco seasoning. It is quick and an easy meal to make.
