Combine hash browns and onion in large bowl, and mix well. Mix soup, sour cream, and milk together in small bowl. Layer potato mixture, soup mixture, and cheese in 9x13 inch baking pan.
Instead of baking individual potatoes and topping them for our large family, my husband came up with this time saving idea to layer ingredients in a casserole.

Pour 1/4 cup melted butter in 9x13 inch baking dish. Add 5 cups of frozen hash browns. Mix soup, sour cream, milk, and green onions in a separate bowl.

This is a very frugal dish. When you make twice baked potatoes, a hungry guest might take a whole potato but only eat half. Now, this is what I do. It's twice baked potatoes, but in a casserole instead of the shell.

Mash potatoes with cream cheese until smooth; add remaining ingredients. Place in buttered 2 qt. casserole dish. Bake, uncovered, 45 minutes in 350 degrees F oven.

Melt margarine and combine all ingredients except corn flakes. Spread in 9x13 inch pan. Crumble corn flakes over top. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-45 minutes until slightly browned.

Recipe for Country Potato Casserole. Heat water and thicken with milk and flour. With wire whisk, mix in spices and cheese. Mix all ingredients together and bake at 350 degrees F until hot.
