Is this the recipe you were looking for?

Pineapple Tropical Cake
This cake is very easy and refreshing. You could also add a little rum in with the pineapple juice before pouring it over the cake.

1 box white or yellow cake mix (plus ingredients to make cake as per directions)
1 20-ounce can crushed pineapple, un-drained
1 small (3 3/4 ounce) package instant vanilla or coconut pudding mix

1/2 cup milk
8 ounces Cool Whip (thawed)
shredded coconut

Bake cake mix as directed in 9x13 pan. While still hot, poke full of holes and spread on 20 oz can crushed pineapple, juice and all. Let sink into cake. Mix dry pudding mix with milk until blended. Add Cool Whip to pudding mixture. Frost cake and sprinkle with coconut.

Puddin Cake

1 cake mix
1 box(small) instant pudding mix
3 eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup water if needed

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix all ingredients well. About 2 mins with electic mixer or 4 mins by hand.

Pour batter into 9x13 pan or bundt pan that has been greased with butter or sprayed with cooking spray.

Bake according to cake mix box directions for the size pan you used.
Cool bundt cake 10 minutes then turn out on a plate.
An easy glaze for this or any cake is to heat 1/3 to 1/2 cup of canned frosting in the microwave for 30-40 seconds in a measuring cup with a pour spout, then drizzle the melted frosting over the cake. A can of frosting does 3 cakes for me. Just keep covered and refrigerated.

Some combinations I have made: white/yellow cake with vanilla or pistachio pudding mix, chocolate with chocolate, lemon with lemon, spice with lemon or vanilla.

This has become one of my favorites! I had this the first time when I was young and my sister in-law made it and brought to a family get together. Very good!

When we were kids, (we're now in our late 40's), there was something called Pudding Cake. My dad brought the idea from living "in the country". It was a plain cake with warm sauce poured over it. We're frantically looking for the recipe for that sauce. Does anybody know of this Kentucky country warm dessert? It is a delicious treat.

A TRUE PUDDING CAKE MAKES IT'S OWN SAUCE WHEN IT BAKES. THE WAY IT IS MADE IS WHAT CREATES THE SAUCE. THE URL BELOW IS FOR MANY DIFFERENT SITES SHOWING METHOD AND RECIPES FOR PUDDING CAKES. GOOD LUCK.

Here is my mom's version of Pudding Cake. She just made this the other day...it is one of my favorites from growing up. I hope that this is what you were looking for.

Make a box of flavored Jello according to package directions and set aside (DO NOT refrigerate).

Make a yellow or white cake according to package directions. Let cool for about 30 minutes.

About 20 minutes into cake cooling time make a box of Vanilla or Banana Pudding according to package directions. Set aside on counter.

When cake has cooled for 30 minutes, poke holes in top with a knife. Pour or spoon Jello over top so that it drains down the holes in top of cake. Pour as much as you would like or feel is enough. Refrigerate leftover Jello to eat seperately or for kids or grandkids :-). "Ice" cake with the pudding. Also to your liking and refrigerate any leftovers as with the Jello.

Refrigerate for a bit and enjoy!

My husband has spoken of a dessert his Mom made when he was a child...it was called "Puddin' & Sauce". She made a plain cake and a chocolate sauce. She poured the warm chocolate sauce over it, when she served it. I've tried to make the sauce, but I just can't seem to get it right..has anyone ever heard of this? It sounds like the person from Kentucky described it right...pouring the sauce over each cut piece of cake and serving it..now it was back in the late 30's and 40's that she made this dessert..cake mix wasn't what they used..but now a days you can buy a yellow cake mix or white cake mix and make the cake..it is the sauce that interest me..any feedback would help:-)
