Repairing a Linoleum Floor?

April 4, 2016

I have a light scratch in the linoleum flooring in the hallway of my building. How can I fix it? It is about 4 feet long, not deep, not wide, slightly worse than a superficial scratch. Thank you.

A simple way is to get some linoleum dust from under the flooring or buy a piece of linoleum similar to the one you have. Mix the dust with glue. Now apply the mixture to the scratched area with a putty knife. Press the paste into the scratch and let it set. This normally takes 24 to 48 hours for the past to completely dry.

You can fill it with hot glue.

I have a very expensive linoleum floor in our kitchen which has a scratch across it for about 3 feet. It looks like something cut it when dragged across it. We can't remember anything that did the scratching, but it is discolored.

We would like to know what we could do to get the color back and make the scratches less noticeable without replacing the linoleum. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks.

I had a V shaped cut (about 5 inches on each leg) in my linoleum /vinyl floor. I positioned duct tape underneath and pressed down to hold the edges then filled the torn edges with layer after layer of matching nail polish. This has held up for 10 years with just occasional refilling with polish - and it's right in the doorway.

It can definitely be repaired but don't do it yourself. Call the store where you bought it, or any store if you don't live near that one.

They have a method that will render the place invisible.

I dropped a knife on my linoleum floor and the pointed end left a mark. Is there any way to make it less noticeable?
