Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic cloves and cook, while stirring, until onion begins to soften, about 5 minutes. Add garbanzo beans and diced tomatoes. Simmer until thickened but still saucy, about 6 to 8 minutes. Remove from heat, season with salt and pepper, stir in the basil, spoon in to serving bowls, and enjoy.
