Use wired ribbon to create roses that can be made into pins or used to embellish shoes, picture frames, pillows, hair bands, or whatever you want. The longer the ribbon, the larger the flower.

Approximate Time: about 30 minutes

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Measure out and cut a 20-inch length of wire edged ribbon.
  2. measured length of ribbon.

  3. Bend back the wire on each side of one end of the ribbon to keep it from sliding off the wire as you work.
  4. Closeup of bent wire and beginning to gather.

  5. At the other end, bend one side back to hold it in place.
  6. Pull the other wire to gather up the ribbon all the way along that edge.
  7. Cut off excess wire and bend back the cut end to hold it in place.
  8. Knot one end of the ribbon and begin rolling it up around the knotted end. It sort of begins to roll itself while you are gathering one edge.
  9. Beginning to roll from knotted end.

  10. Add a dab of glue periodically as you roll it up to hold its shape.
  11. Fold the last 2 inches or so of ribbon across the back and glue it in place. This will help hold the rose together.
  12. Pin glued to back of finished rose.

  13. Glue on a pin back, if desired.
  14. Front view of completed ribbon rose.

I am looking for step by step instructions on how to make fabric flowers. This is a project for an Aged Care Facility so it needs to be fairly simple and with illustrations.

bend pipe cleaners in the shape of daisy petals and twist ends together. Bend pipe cleaners in leaf shapes, too. Glue fabric to each piece and cut to match the pipe cleaner shape.

Add all petals to a long pipe cleaner "stem" and add leaves, too. Take florist tape and tightly wrap around the "stem" to keep everything in place.

Why don't you try the ehow website and use the search box on the website.

The easiest way is to use wide ribbon, and sew a long running stitch down one edge, then just pull the edge until the short ends meet, instant flower! If the single layer flower isn't enough, make several and sew them together at the center.
