I have several patterns of china that I would like to sell in the most profitable and safe way. I know about Craigslist and Replacements, Ltd. Are there any other ways to sell china? Some are antique and the other patterns are very

eBay and Etsy may get you the best money. But they will sit, in many cases for weeks or months until the right buyer comes along. Both online sales and Replacements involve shipping, which as of late us a disaster waiting to happen with broken items.

If you can find a good consignment store to sell them for you, it may be the most logical way to sell. Best wishes!

I would like to sell my never been used fine Italian china from my wedding over 24 years ago. Does anyone know where I can start to look for someone who may be interested in buying it? Thanks in advance.

If you go to www.craigslist.com you can post items for sale, for free. You can also add pictures of the items. This is a great way to sell because people who live in your area will contact you if they are interested in seeing what you have to sell. Once they purchase, they either take it with them or you can deliver it, if you want, so no shipping. I know several people who have sold things this way.

If you are concerned with safety issues, if someone wants to look at the items, you can arrange to meet them in a public place, and bring the items with you. No one needs to know where you live, which I guess is good too. That way they can't return the items if they change their mind later on. lol

Craigslist (I love craigslist!), ebay, take an ad out in your local paper, some stores let you post up flyers, and check out your local auction houses there you can put a certain limit on it and if it don't reach that limit it will not be sold. Good Luck!

Email Replacements.com and ask them about it. I personally sold them my wedding set that I had had since the early 70's. They bought the whole 12 pc place setting set from me with no questions asked - I was very, very pleased.

I talked to a guy at a garage sale once who had a set of fine china that he sold. He was going to sell it as a set, but was advised to sell it on eBay one piece at a time.

He said he got $400-$500 for the set. Other words, he said if you sell it a piece at a time, you can sometimes get much more money for it.

That is a great idea, Amuck. Can't do that with the china though, it is 104 pieces. But I will use your advice in the future. Ebay just seems like more of a hassle than what it it worth.

Did you have to pay for shipping your items?

Yes, but don't you have to ship it to them (Replacements.com). I'm afraid to ship the china service I have, plus it weighs a TON!

The set is lovely, it is also incomplete. In my area this is not in demand anymore, especially china with a metallic rim. Replacements will buy it, but for less than they sell it for.

This pattern is still fairly popular in eBay land and fetches about 49.00 a place setting.

Here are SOLD auction examples with some of the serving pieces:

Are you an expererienced eBay seller? If so that is your best bet. You will need to package these like they are going off to war, double boxing, heavy bubble wrap and Styrofoam peanuts.

If you have never packed china before there are YouTube videos to show you how to package breakables.

If you are not an experienced seller, you can advertise these locally in a Facebook Sale Want Trade group or other local sales venue--NextDoor, LetGo etc.

In those venues you will probably NOT get eBay prices so don't be surprised how little people will offer you.

You can see if Replacements.com will buy them from you--but that involves shipping and with shipping costs you may not make a profit.

If you have consignment stores that will sell them for you, that would be the easiest, but you would get the least for them.

There is kind of a food chain for selling with eBay getting you the most, on down to consignment.

Each has different amount of work which is why the prices go down.

Also you will probably want to try different strategies when selling--start with the whole set (if you are doing local sales) then if no bites, you may have to sell it by place setting, then by piece. If you are doing it by eBay, parse it out by place setting, then if no nibbles by piece.

Post back what you decide and how your sales go!

The 2 best places to look for true value for china is eBay and Replacements, LTD.

Her is a cup & saucer on Replacements:

Go to Replacements.com.
Keep in mind their prices are high, and if you do decide to sell, you will probably be offered less.

So true! Replacements offered me only 3 dollars each for teacups that range 25 to 100 dollars each if you were to buy them!
