No solution, only some suggestions:
Use sunblock to prevent future problems.
You might want to check out Avon's cosmetic cover ups. "Beyond Color, wet/dry foundation and concealer."
My Avon rep told me there is a stronger cover up, in their assortment, but I don't recall the name. Might be "Personal Match".
I keep mine in the freezer (rep's suggestion), because it's very creamy and has ocasionally broken off when sharpening. Doesn't need to defrost before using. Buy the sharpener recommended for it as this is a fat crayon type of delivery system. It's not greasy, and blends nicely. Doesn't feel heavy.

I get a lot of use out of a stick. Reasonably priced.

Possible bad news, I searched the Avon site to include a picture and none came up. Either they rotate their 'net offerings like the booklets, or it's been discontinued. However, the reps have a large catalogue that lists all of the products, so even if it's not in the cute little booklet, it's still available.

If these sticks are discontinued, I am going to be very upset. It was a great product and I can't stand most cover ups as they feel thick, like mud. Will have to check out the other cover up that the rep suggested when my supply is down.

I don't know if it would help or not, but I just read about a facial using honey. You spread regular honey on your face, leave it on for 5 minutes, then wash it off. It's supposed to tighten the pores, or something like that.

I did it one time, and my face felt really good. It's worth a try, I guess. Good luck and God bless you!

Avon rep said that the Avon web site doesn't list all products. Phew! For a min. I thought they'd discotinued my Beyond Color sticks.

At Dollar General, there is a skin bleaching skin creme, Dr. Palmers, in a small white jar, with sun screen and moisturizers, that I have used for 15 yrs. successfully to remove "brown spots" from aging. My black friend uses it also, but must be careful to use

a glove to apply and to apply evenly, only on one area a night, covering with kleenex tissue while waiting for it to be absorbed. Stay out of the sun as much as possible.I understand that Michael Jackson used this several times a day all over his body, like body lotion, and why he kept himself covered from the sun, using umbrellas often, if you'll remember. I believe Elizabeth Taylor uses it also. This is likely what turned the too fair and white.

Be careful and know when to stop. Do not use it on the soles of your feet, because heels have tough skin. Do not get it into your eyes, or use around the eyes or inside the mouth, following all warnings on the label. Wash hands after using. It takes about two months to work on my brown spots, if I apply daily after a bath. Good luck and God bless you. : )

Just FYI - I love Avon too, but their Beyond Color product did not work for me. I was so hoping it would because I heard such wonderful things about it.

I'm in the process of experimenting with plain old lemon juice.

I've had good luck so far on the knuckles of my hands, which are dark. Also on my arms which have sun damage. Same on hands, they're much softer now.

I'm using it on my skin now and don't have sensitive skin so I leave it on overnight on my face, neck, chest, arms, hands, knees.

Be careful though because lemon juice can get stains out of white clothing so be sure you test a part of your body in a small area first.

Good Luck Sweetie - I know how you feel.

Someone on this site gave this recipe, but with no proportions, so I'm experimenting.

I just tried this recipe even though there were no proportions given. I started with:

1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. lemon juice
3 aspirin

I don't have sensitive skin and I had no trouble with any stinging or burning.

Then I tried it with:

2 tbsp baking powder
2 tbsp lemon juice
4 aspirin

I put this all over my face, neck, chest, arms and elbows, hands and knees and kept it on overnight.
I experienced no redness or any other kind of irritation at all.

It made my skin look brighter and it's probably wishful thinking, but I think my brown spots are slightly, slightly lighter. I've only used the recipe twice.

I did notice that when I used it all over my face that the 'good' parts of my skin that are unblotchy became lighter and therefore made the blotchy parts a little more noticible, so next time I'll apply it to my dark spots with a q tip. This will be hard because I have mostly blotchy parts.

As far as the remark about skin peeling; I hope so. That's what exfoliation is. That's how you get decent skin - you take away the dead skin. Your skin products won't work effectlively trying to get through dead skin. My opinion and experience.

I paid dearly for 9 months at my dermatologist for professional skin peels and my skin peeled alright, in sheets, literally, you better believe it. But I can't say it made a dramatic difference, and nobody else noticed anything much either. Plus, my really dark spots on my forehead NEVER peeled, even when the doctor put a stronger solution on that area. Nine months, one peel a month at $150 each and my forehead never peeled which is where I need it the most.

I admit that if you have sensitive skin you should be careful and experiment. I don't have sensitive skin.

I do know that lemon juice for dark spots is a really old fashioned recipe for skin; it's been around a long time.

I used fresh lemon juice, but next time I'll try bottled lemon juice and see what happens.

I didn't use witch hazel (yet). I'm an experimenter. What's the worst that could happen? If I have a problem, I go to the dermotologist - yes, I'd spend more money, but I'd rather figure out by myself how to make my skin peel. I've already tried what the derm dr. had to offer within my price range.

I had to use a mortar and pestle to grind it all up. You can buy them inexpensively at Target or at a place that specializes in cooking items.

The recipe foams up as soon as you add the baking soda to the lemon juice.

I DID use it overnight on my nose with no problem. I have clogged pores there especially.

It does make your skin tight. But after removing it the next morning with LOTS of tepid water and a gentle wash cloth, my skin wasn't dry. I have dry skin and an oily T zone. On my elbows and knees I scrubbed with the washcloth because I have a big problem with darkness in these areas. I had no problem.

My goal is to get a peeling roll started.

As far as the remark about lemon being sensitive to sunlight; she's right. But sunBLOCK should be used anyway, with or without ANY kind of exfoliation process. You're uncovering new, fresh skin and your skin will be sensitive plus it will get spotty again unless you use sunblock.

If you try this lady's recipe, I hope you'll post your opinions, reactions, results, etc.

I found another thing that has been working for me.

Find a facial soap with 2% salicytic acid in it.
Wash your face with it and rinse very well.
Then, put a layer of the soap back onto your skin and anywhere else you want to get rid of darkness.

The next day, wash your face again with the soap and then exfoliate with something that has grains in it. I use baking soda and it's gentle, but helps remove dead skin cells. You can also use a sugar scrub (plain sugar with water mixed into a paste).

Keep doing this day after day until your skin starts to peel and flake. Don't Panic!! This is the good part and shows that the old, dead skin is beginning to come off your skin.

(You'll also see your pores get cleaner and your face will be fresher looking and brighter)

Start using a skin bleach product now as the skin starts to peel.

Continue the process - wash with the soap; rinse well; put the soap onto the skin; exfoliate; use sunblock over the soap. The soap will absorb into your skin.

BUT - and this is really important - you MUST use a sunBLOCK not sunSCREEN on your skin when you begin this 'recipe' on your skin.

As your skin peels the new, fresh skin is revealed and will be very sensitive to the sun.

You will also find that your skin creams, etc. will be better absorbed and more effective as your skin peels because the skin cream is getting through to the fresh skin and can really work.

I also use this on my arms, knees, elbows, back of my knees.

Take your shower or bath with soap with 2% salycitic acid. In the US they sell shower bath gel with this percentage.
Use a nylon bath brush to scrub the soap into your skin.
When you get out of the shower, put the soap back onto your skin where ever you are blotchy or dark.

The next morning when you shower, use the nylon bath brush along with this soap and scrub your skin.

I have seen an improvement in the blotchiness on my arms, etc. within two weeks. It really works for me.

But I use sunblock on any of the areas that I am treating. This is so important because as the new fresh skin is revealed, the sun will cause the skin to darken again.

BUT don't use this process anywhere near your eyes. The skin around the eye is very thin and fragile and this process is too drying for the eye area.

I hope this helps you. It really has helped me a lot.

Good Luck!

As far as lightening, I don't know much about that.
For the oiliness, you can swab it daily with witch hazel, then dab on milk of magnesia, let it dry, and rinse off with cool water. Doing that daily will help with oil control.
