Does anyone know anything about sewing machines? The bobbin thread isn't being picked up by the needle. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it was working fine. It is possible, not sure, but the needle doesn't seem to be going down as far as it should. I am mighty confused. Please help.

When I have that problem, I have found it works to hold the thread in the needle to the left while you put the needle down to pick up the bobbin thread. Sometimes it is still hard to see if the bobbin thread has come up and when that happens I take a darning needle and run it under the pressure foot and the bobbin thread is there, just needed a little help for me to see it and straighten it out.
If redhatterb's suggestion doesn't work, you might have the bobbin turned the wrong direction. Also, try removing the top thread and rethreading the sewing machine.
Sewing machines can be frustrating. Easy things to try, re-thread the machine and the bobbin. Be sure the bobbin thread is reasonably long (about4 inches). Be sure the needle is threaded from the correct side. Check your settings to see that you have everything on the correct setting. See if you have tightened up the knob or dial or whatever you have that enables you to thread your bobbin; you now have to have it back on the "sew" setting.
Try changing the needle for a new one. I don't know why but this usually works for me.
You may also check to make sure your needle is turned properly. I had this problem not too long ago. I had replaced the needle and tightened it in not realizing I had not set it in the slot properly.
The bobbin thread is not connecting with the needle thread to begin sewing.
I have a Nustyle 227 sewing machine. The needle won't pick up thread from bobbin.
I am a new owner of a Graybar/Coronado sewing machine model RBR. I think I figured out how to thread it, but I cannot get the top thread to grab the bobbin thread and pull it through.
The bobbin is not a drop in from top it is positioned from the side.My sewing machine is not catching the bobbin thread when I'm trying to sew stretch fabric. It works fine on regular cotton, but doesn't pick up the stitch when I put in the jersey fabric.
I am using the right needle and the machine and bobbin are threaded and inserted correctly. It seems to be just a problem with the stretchy fabric - any ideas?I currently own a vintage Athena 2000 electronic sewing machine. I need help. The issue I have is that whenever the thread on the needle of the machine tries to grab for the bobbin thread every time I give it a full rotation the thread on the needle constantly stops halfway and does not make the full rotation to the bobbin thread.
Sometimes it works and other times it does not. I was wondering if anyone can give me an insight into what could be wrong. The thread is not coming out from the bobbin under the presser foot. What should I do?
I have a Brother RL425 sewing machine. The needle is not picking up thread from the lower bobbin. I have tried to adjust the needle to the correct height with the hook, but when it is low enough to catch the thread the needle hits the bottom of the bobbin setting case. (Sorry I don't know the technical terms. I hope this makes sense!)
Double check that the bobbin is not in upside down. If it is, it can cause this to happen.
My mini electric sewing machine is not picking up thread from the bobbin.
Make sure the bobbin area is clean of lint, fabric and thread. Make sure bobbin is not inserted backwards or upside down.
I have a Kenmore sewing machine. It seemed to be working great until I changed the thread to top stitch thread and I put it in the bobbin too. Now it won't pick up the bobbin thread when using this thread. I changed the needle to a top stitch needle, but it did not help.
You might have some thread jammed in the bobbin area. Take the plate out and check the bobbin area. You may have to take out the bobbin too
My portable sewing machine is not picking up the bobbin thread. What's the problem? Can someone please help me?
Make sure the foot presser is up when putting the thread through the upper tension.
Then draw up bobbin thread.
Turn the hand wheel towards you only.
