Remedies for Damaged Hair

January 17, 2008

A woman looking at the ends of her damaged hair.Fabulous hair repair tip! Vitamin E capsules are a CHEAP and fantastic remedy for dry hair, split ends and damaged hair. Take about 20 or so capsules (depending on damage...mine was severe!) and cut them open with a pair of small scissors. Take the gel and put on the ends of your damaged hair. It is tedious and time consuming but it really works!

Continue until all ends are covered. Work the gel in well and leave on your hair for at least an hour. I left mine on 2 hours while I cleaned house. Then shampoo and style as usual. You won't believe the difference! Try it!

I have a problem. 3 weeks ago, I had my hair rebounded. I was expecting a good result, but it was not the same as what I expected. My hair got damaged to the tips and I cut the brittle parts. After 2 weeks it's just the same. My hair turned dry and looks lifeless. But some parts are still good. I saw some burnt hair above my ears and it's difficult for me to cut it. Remedy for Burnt Brittle Hair - dry tips

Now my hair is short so I'm afraid that dryness and damage might spread because some are still healthy (hopefully not). I really don't know what to do. Currently I'm using coconut oil and keratin treatment. I just want to know the best treatment for this kind of damage. I really need your help now. It's a very serious problem since my hair is very important for me.

Thank you so much.

You should use an oil/conditioner every day but leave it in a bun and tie a scarf around it.

This is a page about using coconut oil for damaged hair. Coconut oil is a great moisturizer for hair, skin, and nails. A small amount goes a long way.

How can I get my natural hair back after rebonding? I want to know how can I look good even if I'm still letting my natural hair grow back. I have black wavy hair that was rebonded and I want to get my natural hair back without any ugliness to show. You know, the baby hairs are standing up like antennae. Haha.

You have three choices:
1. Home box dyes, etc., can't give you what you want if your hair is already damaged.
2. Let your hair grow without any alterations and tough it out.

3. See a hair stylist to provide an opinion on what can be done.

Your best bet is to have a stylist work with your hair for a good result. But remember, your hair is already damaged so any stylist can only try to help from there.

I have rebond my hair once a year for the past few years. I can't just cut it without re-bonding, because then my hair becomes frizzy at the place where I tie my hair.

I really want to break out of this rebonding cycle. I just want to cut my hair without having to worry about the permanent zig zag mark; it doesn't go away after I wash my hair. Please help.

Buy some coconut oil. You can get it at a health food store or some all your hair. Supermarkets in health food section. Massage into dry hair so as to coverall your hair. Massage a little into scalp. Cover with plastic shower cap nd leave on overnight if possible. Wash hair in morning and condition as usual.

Use as necessary. You can put a tiny amount on fingers and massage hands together and put through dry hair to add hine.

My problem started after that. My front hair become tight, rough, hard, and curly type. Please tell what I have to do. I have never used rebonding. I am so depressed.

One and a half years ago I had rebonding done on my hair by a nonprofessional. Since then I have been suffering from heavy hair loss. I tried a lot of treatments for this hair fall, but every time they have failed. So can someone please help me?

My hairdresser told me to take biotin for thinning hair. As this is a B vitamin, you will need to take a multiple b complex in conjunction with this as when you take any b vitamin without the others, your body will automatically dump the remaining b vitamins that are in your system, from what I understand.

I hope this helps.

Dyed my hair about 2 months ago and straight permed it last night and now its falling out! I put blonde high lights in my hair in April and just put a relaxer in my hair last night. My hair is super elasticy and breaks when I brush it. It also feels almost like I have bad leave in shampoo in it. It feels dirty and is frizzy.

I'm too afraid to brush it because I don't wanna lose more, but I have to. I've heard to not use shampoo and get Moroccan oil and deep conditioners and use egg. I really, really don't wanna cut it. Does anyone know about how long it takes to fix this if I take good care of my hair? Any other ideas? I'm desperate!

I've done the same thing. My hair was down my shoulders and had to cut it off because of killing it with to many chemicals. Try olive oils treatments or mayo with olive oil. Leave it in overnight. I've done it 3 nights in a row and my hair is healthier looking/feeling with less breakage. I've also heard beer is good too but never tried it. Just wash, condition and use leave in conditioner during the day. Good luck!

I was in the foster care system and my foster mom put a perm in my hair when I was two. Growing up it's been really tough, my hair is so brittle and hard. Now what do I do? I'm 17 now and even though this happened when I was 2 there is no telling what else she did. How do I manage my hair by myself? What kinds of oil or grease will work? Please help me.

I've had good results with mayonnaise. Take a spoonful and work it well into your hair including the scalp. Let it sit for 15+ minutes. Shampoo as usual, but you need a gentle shampoo. This will make the shower floor slippery so be careful.

It's also important to eat good oils like nuts, seeds, olive oil, tuna and salmon. Your hair gets its oils from your body which gets it from your food.

Use Wen by Chaz Dean's Fig cleansing conditioner. You can find it at Ulta and QVC.com. His cleansing conditioners are great for my hair which is very fine. I have hormonal issues that effect both my scalp and hair and this has seems to really help. It is pricey (about $30) but I've tried all of the other in-store brands and this is the only one that helps my hair.
