I am the captain of a rainbow tea for church we are having in August. My color is purple. I would like some ideas on food and decorations. Thanks in advance.

I'd serve a hot (or better yet in August an iced) Blackberry flavored Tea. You can find this at many stores, it's very yummy! (& it's purple)
To make the blackberry tea an even darker purple, add real (frozen) blackberries to the tea (you may want to strain out any seeds, or you can leave the blackberries whole & floating or sinking in the tea). Remember many people are diabetic so don't sweeten the tea, let them do it themselves. Serve the iced blackberry tea in a big glass pitcher so the purple & the blackberries show through.
If you can't find a ready-made blackberry tea, then make your own with oolong tea & add frozen blackberries. Don't steep the tea more than 3 - 5 minutes or it will turn bitter!
You could even make a blackberry punch, look for recipes on the Internet. * As for foods, think Blackberry. Like blackberry muffins & cake or blackberry jams on crackers. Purple, Purple, Purple!
A really yummy, easy tea I found in a make-your-own gifts book is to mix 2 1/2 cups instant tea mix and 1 envelope of Kool-Aid, flavor of your choice. Then add hot water to make 2 gallons. We put it in the coffee maker to keep it hot (just take the innards out). We had cherry flavor, and it really got rave reviews. We also served cucumber-shrimp sandwiches, petit fours, lemon curd tartlets, etc. You could ice the petit fours with lavender, and add white icing flowers on top.
We are having a rainbow tea at our church. I need some ideas on food; our color is purple.
