Places that paint automotives will also paint refrigerators. I don't know if there is any way to do it yourself and have a durable job. I doubt it.

They make a special refrigerator spray paint. You can also use "Hammerite" for a pounded brass, copper or pounded steel look. Be sure to wipe the whole fridge down after you've cleaned it and before you paint it with rubbing alcohol. This removes any oil from your hands and any residue from the cleaner you used.

I've seen it done, it can turn out wonderful! They also make a stick-on laminate/veneer for fridges and cabinets in real (but very thin) stainless, chalkboard & colors. Write me for more info.

Look for 'appliance" spray paint at any home or hardware store. I've used it very successfully to get my appliances to match instead of replacing. "Appliance" isn't a brand name, only one of the descriptives on the spray can. It's a little more expensive but creates an enamel finish that is long-lasting and very washable. good luck

I was in WalMart the other day buying paint for a project. A woman was purchasing spray paint to paint her refrigerator. She said she'd painted a refrigerator before will good results using the canned spray paint in WalMart. She was buying the better quality one not the 97 cent can.

Mayble you could spray a place on the back or someplace you can't see to test it out. Just a thought. I would ask someone in one of the better paint stores (like Sherman Williams) to get their thoughts. A company that does this will probably tell to not to; they want the job.

Thanks everyone. I did buy Rustoleum paint in a can to use on appliances. I would rather use a roller than spray since I don't want the overspray all over my kitchen. My only concern is the plastic on the water/ice dispenser compartment on the front of the door and on the door handles which is now almond color.

I'm not sure I can remove them to paint properly. I do know they sell paint for plastic. I'm still a bit apprehensive and looking into buying a used white fridge and save the grief. Wouldn't have been so complicated if the fridge did not have the water/ice in the door.

Call a company that refinishes appliances. I did. It came out great. I can't remember the cost. It wasn't that much.

I also suggest that you purchase paint that is formulated for appliances. Paints like these are designed to hold up to heat and cold without cracking and peeling.

There are paints especially suited for appliances. You can go to a home improvement store and talk to the clerks. I have seen white fridges painted black or stainless steel color. Good luck.

Just cover it in fridge magnets! ;-)

Clean it really well, using dish soap and steel wool. Rinse and dry. Put masking tape over hinges and handle so they don't get painted. Buy a can or 2 of spray enamel in the color of your choice and spray you refridgerator.

I have done this and it works great! It is also cheap.

Bear in mind that any paint you put on will not wear as well as the original finish, unless you have it done in an automotive paint shop.

I like the advice and thank you all.
About spraying, what happens to all the 'stuff' surrounding the fridge. Mine is in the middle of the dining room, which is why I want to change the color.
Do I need to worry about the paint mist?
I could not take it outside. I am on the third floor.

I think you can buy special paint for appliances. Check with your local home improvment store. They should even be able to give you ideas on how to do it. You can also buy stuff to apply to appliances to give them the look of stainless steel.

I painted a stove years ago by taking it to the auto body shop. I think they charged me $60 and it looked good and lasted well.

I need to paint the door on my fridge 410 liters model, frost free Hoover brand. Where I can find someone to spray paint the doors top and bottom, because they have rust. I also need a new rubber seal for the door. My fridge is in good working good, I only need to find who can spray paint the door.

Thanks.

How about you? Take the door off the hinge, lay it on a protected floor or yard and use either appliance paint, or Krylon or Rustoleum (my personal fav'). It is usually dry in an hour or so and you are set.

If you still want someone else to do it, check out small businesses in your area on Craigslist.

Sure, just scruff up the old paint, apply a primer coat and then the top coat. If you use a brush there will be brush marks. Maybe a paint roller would work. So you may want to use an aerosol paint can. I would test out your technique on a piece of metal first. Or if you could get the unit to a body shop they could paint the unit for you. A long shot is to look in the yellow pages under painting and call some of them to see if they can steer you in the right dircetion to find someone that does that type of work if you do not want to do it yourself.
