Anyone know what year this is from and it's worth?

This chest has the same original padded cover pattern w serial no., etc. This may provide you with some information that comes closer to what you want to know; maybe not everything.
Have you considered placing an inquiry with Lane Furniture Company? They may have documentation on their cedar chests present value and when circulated date.
I was just given this piece and would like to know its value. I have seen some but they are buffets where this is a blanket chest.
It is difficult to tell very much about your chest as the pictures are dark, and perhaps the sun is reflecting, so even the 'color' is not distinguishable.
You can check out the links below, as the listings will provide information about the chest and provide good examples of the type of pictures needed to sell an item.

When you list for sale you should start with a higher price, consider offers and lower the price if necessary.
I would like to know what this Cedar Chest is worth?
Most sell for $150-200 at auction, but it depends from area. A vintage Lane cedar hope blanket chest sold recently - on Oct 16th 2022 for $223.50 www.ebay.com/
It's hard to see the front of your Lane cedar chest in the photo and what condition it's in. I think it is modern, from 1970s.
This one is from 1970s: www.shoppok.com/
Only $50 for now.
I got this from a friend of mine and I no longer need it. I would love to sell it and give it a good home but I have no idea of the value.
I havent been able to find one like it to compare.Looks like you have a Lane cedar chest.
Serial number 954011.
How to date your chest:
From Lane website:
"Usually Lane cedar chests have serial numbers that are stamped or applied to the bottom of the chests.
I believe your serial number: 954011 would indicate the manufacture date to be:
November 4, 1959
All of this is important should you wish to list your chest for sale.
Also, it appears your chest still has the original lock and these were banned due to a safety issue and locks have to be removed before listing the chest for sale.

Unfortunately, cedar chests are not as popular anymore as they are heavy, take up space, and people do not store material goods (woolens) like previous generations.
These were also known as 'Hope Chests' where young ladies stored items while waiting for their wedding day and that is also a long-gone era.
Condition, style, and where you are located will have the biggest bearing on the value of your chest.
These are very heavy items and shipping would be very high so sellers usually list these as 'local pick up only'.
Some areas may see these as totally unnecessary items while another area may take a second look.
Usually this is a very slow-selling item no matter the area, style or price.
If you wish to sell your chest I would suggest you start with a higher price - maybe $300 - and leave it listed for a few weeks. If you do not receive any offers then you can lower the price and wait again.
Sites like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace are usually the best sites to list items like this.
You will need several very good pictures (better than these) that show the complete chest - front, ends, top, and inside.
This chest was given to me as a gift. The giver repainted it. If I read the serial number correctly, its dated 1954. It is in very nice condition. I see tho that it has the dangerous kind of lock on it, which I would have removed if I thought the value would be worth the change.
Over all just curious. Thank you.Vintage Lane cedar chests sell for around $100-$700 depending on the age, condition, and whether the hardware is original. Most are worth about $200-$400. To date a Lane cedar chest reverse the three pairs of numbers that comprise the 6-digit serial number.
This Lane cedar chest has had the lock removed and is listed for $145:

Too bad it has been painted as this usually reduces the value.
Of course, that is not always the case as some people will buy these even if they have been redone but that usually depends on how well it was done. If an amateur did the painting then you could probably expect your chest to sell for less than $100.
But then again, your area will have a large bearing on the final value no matter the condition.
A chest is very heavy and shipping will be expensive so most likely it would need to be listed for sale as 'local pick up only'.
That means value would depend on if your area is into cedar chests
or if they pass them by if on the curb.
If your chest is really in excellent condition (no damage on top?) it could be listed for sale starting at $250 with local pick up and best offers considered.
As to the lock: you definitely should remove the old lock as it is very dangerous and easily replaced.
In many areas, it is against the law to sell it with the old lock and online sites will not let it be listed without the old lock removed.
Here is the link to ask for a new lock.
