This chest has the same original padded cover pattern w serial no., etc. This may provide you with some information that comes closer to what you want to know; maybe not everything.
Have you considered placing an inquiry with Lane Furniture Company? They may have documentation on their cedar chests present value and when circulated date.
Model number 1974-50. Serial# 361280. What's this Lane chest worth
Lane cedar chests are an excellent brand and people do still buy them today but not like in the past. In the 60s and 70s, a lot of young girls were given one of these cedar chests to start planning for their wedding in the future and they called these a hope chest. Today young girls are not interested in this older tradition and therefore they do not collect cedar chests like in the past. However, there are still people who do actually buy them to store older blankets in them to protect them.
I have a Lane Cedar Chest with serial number 455110. It is in almost new condition, with original key, and finish. I am trying to find out the value of the chest for estate purposes.
Most of the chests are worth between $200 and $400. I would price yours on the higher end.
This Lane cedar chest has been in the family since the day of purchase on August 15th, 1964. In the picture you will see that we still have the original sales contract as well showing it was purchased via layaway. Does having this provenance add much value to the piece?
Based on the serial number (264201) I am pretty sure it was made Oct 24th, 1962. However, I am unable to find any of the style we have in the normal places to search online such as eBay to ascertain its value. The style # is 6031-04. Can you please help me try to figure out the value of this Lane cedar chest and if the provenance adds any further value to the piece?
Thanks much.
Can you tell me the value of my cedar chest?
Thank you.
In its condition I would value it in the $150 range.
I have inherited a lane cedar chest, serial number 364021, style # 1941-41.
The outside has been sanded down as it was in rough shape, most of the hardware is gone and needs to be replaced. The inside is really good. Can you give me an idea of value, and does anyone have a pic of that model, so I can refurbish it as best I can?
In very good condition on Ebay it's going for $499.00 !
People are asking $250 to $450 on eBay. Keep in mind the asking price is not the true value of the item. You can only determine the true value of the item if it is sold.
I was just given this piece and would like to know its value. I have seen some but they are buffets where this is a blanket chest.
It is difficult to tell very much about your chest as the pictures are dark, and perhaps the sun is reflecting, so even the 'color' is not distinguishable.
You can check out the links below, as the listings will provide information about the chest and provide good examples of the type of pictures needed to sell an item.

When you list for sale you should start with a higher price, consider offers and lower the price if necessary.
This chest was give to me by my family after my grandmother passed. My cousin said it had been in her mom's basement for almost 50 yrs. It has two numbers, style #3023 and serial #450220. I can't seem to find any information.
It's not in good shape due to storing it, but the inside is in amazing condition. It has an extra lock in the original package. But it's my grandmother's and I want to pass it on to my son. She was a special lady. Most cedar chests these days sell for around $125-$175 depending on the condition of the cedar chest. Considering yours is a bit damaged on the outside the value would be in the lower range.
