A pitcher of lemonade with a glass and some whole lemons.Okay, this is called lemonade but limes are used instead? That's because true Brazilian lemons taste like limes. And, yes, creamy sweet milk makes this drink taste awesome! Any leftover sweetened condensed milk can be kept in a closed glass or plastic container in the refrigerator for about two weeks.

If the lemonade is a tad bit bitter for anyone, they can simply add more sugar to taste when served. Oh, and the flavor of this drink is perfect for adding some gin ;-)

Ingredients:

  • 3 limes, including rind, quartered
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 cups, plus 1 cup water
  • ice cubes
  • lime slices for garnish

Directions:

Place first three ingredients in a blender, add 4 cups cold water and blend on high speed until limes are slightly chopped.

Place a strainer on top of a pitcher and pour blender ingredients into the pitcher.

Slowly pour the remaining 1 cup water through the strainer over the lime pieces to help release all of the residual sugar and juice.

Place ice cubes in serving glasses, pour mixture over ice, garnish with a lime slice and serve.

Simple and delicious! You can make any summer time drinks or refreshers by adding fresh fruit to any of your favorite beverages. I made a 2 quart pitcher of my favorite lemonade.

You can make this from scratch or use Crystal light or what ever summer beverage you like.

How do you make the same lemonade you get at fairs and carnivals? They use real lemons, sugar, and I don't know what else but it is delicious. Does anyone know?

Hi! The lemonade you are talking about is called "lemon shake-ups". I love them too and I always head straight to the 1st vendor I see! They are REALLY simple to make. 3 ingrediants: Real Lemons, Sugar, Water. I cut the lemon in half and squeeze into a glass and then I just drop the lemon half into my glass, minus the seeds of coarse.

Add a few spoonfulls of sugar and add ice water, then stir and give it a taste, you may need to add sugar or more lemon juice.....YUMMMM!

If you would like to make more than 1 glass, take 3 to 4 lemons, cut in half and squeeze with lemon juicer. Then add enough water to make 1 1/2 to 2 quarts, add about 1 cup of sugar (or to taste), add ice and yummy.

Real lemonade is very pale---I wouldn't be surprised if they added a tiny bit of yellow food coloring. It's amazing how we have come to "expect" things to look or taste modern instead of "real."

I met a lady and her daughter this summer who were selling lemonade at a farmer's market. The money was putting the daughter through college. They got $3.00 for an 8-oz. glass! They squeezed the half lemon into the cup, then added a plain sugar syrup that they kept in a cooler with a spigot at the bottom.

They added a sprig of mint for decoration. My guess would be that it is a light syrup of about 1 part sugar to 3 parts water, cooked long enough to dissolve the sugar and then chilled. Let me know if you try this.

I just squeeze the lemons, take the juice and add water and sugar to taste. It's easy and you can make it as sweet or sour as you like.

For good cheap lemonade that your guests cannot tell the difference from real lemonade...Mix 2 packages of Koolaid lemonade following directions on the package. Squeeze the juice from 2 lemons into it. Cut half slices from a third lemon and add one to each glass as you serve it. I used this recipe when I had a concession stand years ago, and nobody ever guessed that it wasn't fresh squeezed lemonade.

The best lemonade I have had.

Make a simple syrup (bring sugar and water to a boil , cook until all sugar is dissolved then cool down before adding lemon)

1 c. of sugar,
4 c. water then add
1 c. fresh squeezed less lemon juice
1 or 2 drops of vanilla
Chill and enjoy
I even freeze little cups of lemonade to put in the picture so it doesn't dilute it.

Wash lemons and oranges and slice into rounds. Put in large pan (big enough to hold 2 plus gallons). Add 2 cups of sugar sprinkling over tops of fruit. Add enough hot water to just cover the top and mash with a potato masher.

I've always had to add tons of sugar when I've made lemonade at home before! Turns out the problem was that I wasn't adding enough water. This recipe makes a very tasty, simple lemonade the whole family will enjoy. Recipe makes 14 servings, but can easily be halved for 7.
