I thought I'd share this delicious dessert that I used to make when my kids were home on snow days. It soothed the senses twice by filling the house with the smell of warm baking apples that we would enjoy after shoveling snow or sleigh riding.
Enjoy!

Yum!
For Pastry: Mix half of the shortening with dry ingredients. Then mix in other half and add ice water. Blend with fork until dough can be pressed together.
Simmer water and sugar for 5 minutes. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together and cut in margarine. Add milk and chopped and peeled apples.
Cook above 5 minutes. Set aside. Mix the other ingredients like pie crust. Put layer crust on bottom of long cake pan. Put in sliced apples.
Allow pie crust to come to room temperature. Unfold crust and cut into fourths. From curved edge of each pastry piece cut a leaf shape to use as garnish. Place an apple in center of each pastry piece. In small bowl, combine 1/4 cup sugar, 1 Tbsp. cinnamon and raisins; spoon into apple cavities.
Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening. Add milk all at once and stir only until all the flour is moistened.
For biscuits: Roll out and cut into six pieces. Put sliced apples in middle of each piece and add butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
