Homemade Oatmeal Recipes

Mama Bear PorridgeThis is something my grandmother used to make for me to get me to eat oatmeal. If you have healthy children that hate oatmeal they will love this!

Total Time: 5 Minutes

Yield: 2-4

Ingredients:

  • 3 1/2. cup water
  • 2 snack boxes raisins (or any kind of dried fruit)
  • 2 cups quick (minute) oats
  • 2 Tbsp Irish butter (less fat, mooove over butter)
  • 1/4 can condensed milk
  • walnuts, if you like

*If you don't like condensed milk, try brown sugar.I f you choose, you can use fat free or evaporated milk with Splenda instead.

Steps:

  1. Boil water and raisins to make them plump and sweet.
  2. Then add oats, they will cook fast.
  3. Add butter and condensed milk.

Any time that you can sweeten your food naturally with fruits, it's just that much healthier! I enjoy recipes that take otherwise boring meals and liven them up.
