I have a toe nail fungus and it is ugly. Please help me get rid of this as soon as possible. I paid for a pedicure and bought this too. Lucky me!
I used tea tree oil and had really great results. It wasn't fast, but after using it for a month or so, I saw such a difference! I used it in the morning and at night. I got the tea tree oil from Amazon.com. It would probably be cheaper at the health food store. I was happy with the results.
It seems we have a large variety of natural remedies. I will keep them handy for future reference. For now, I use coconut oil after soaking and/or cleaning my feet. I apply liberally, then put on a pair of socks. Coconut oil is an antibacterial, anti-fungal so it's worked like what my podiatrist prescribed but which I couldn't afford.
As to how much time? I never kept track, I did notice that within a week my feet quit itching if that helps. I do the coconut oil once a day now as a preventative. It also helps by keeping moisture out from between the toes due to the oil being there instead. I think that makes a difference besides keeping my feet soft too.
What do I do to get rid of a nail fungus? I have tried tea tree oil, bleach, and hydrogen peroxide.

I would suggest you visit a good dermatologist. My mom had a nail fungus and tried all her friends "home" remedies. She finally went to the dermatologist and he gave her some meds to take care of the problem.
The fungus grew out as the nails grew long. It has never come back. Worth a try.
I have this on the middle toe of my right foot. I used Vick's vapor rub on it for 6 months, every time the nail grew out, my son would cut off the excess (I can't bend well enough anymore). It isn't totally healed but it is not sore. When applying the Vick's use rubber gloves, this way it doesn't get all over your hands, then wipe the gloves with a rag (kept just for this purpose). make sure to wear socks after applying to foot.
I have been going to the same nail salon for the past 5 years with the same operator. It is a very clean place as the tubs are cleaned and sanitized after each customer.
My neighbor started going last week and loved the first pedicure she had. My question is: she has nail fungus, would this be contagious to other customers even if the tubs are cleaned and disinfected each time?
Thank you for your replies.
If the tubs and instruments are properly sanitized, then no, you would not catch someone else's fungus. However, all it would take is for something to not be properly sanitized once and the next customer could catch it. I'm sure your neighbor is not the first person to go there with a fungus, and you've not caught anything yet, so the place is probably clean. However, this is a risk you have to weigh.
I was a hairstylist for thirty five years (also did manicures and pedicures) and always followed sanitation laws and 99.99% of salons and stylists and nail techs do too. I am sure your neighbor isn't the only client that has ever had nail fungus and got a pedicure or manicure over the years. To answer Debbie52's question about disclosure; nail techs and stylists alike can easily tell if someone has nail fungus even if the client doesn't say something and they do extra sanitation after the service. As long as you trust that your salon is indeed sanitizing equipment I truly don't think you should worry about it.
No stylist or salon wants to spread disease. I even had a new client once (I didn't know until she told me half way through the haircut) that she was in the last stages of life with HIV. Because she was rubbing her eyes and runny nose with her hands a lot, believe you me, I quietly excused myself for a moment and told the other stylists to properly sanitize anything they had seen her touch in the salon. The minute she left the salon I sanitized everything I could think of that she might have touched including door handles. As I said already, no stylist or salon wants to spread disease. Oh, I went to that clients home after that to give her haircuts.
What is a good home remedy for toe nail fungus?
My husband has the same problem with toe nail fungus and he uses a home remedy. Buy a bag of cotton balls and cut each in half since you don't need to use a full cotton ball. Saturate the cotton ball with cider vinegar and apply to each toe nail before going to bed each night.
You have to be consistent with this treatment.
The reason why he won't take medication that the doctor prescribed is that it could destroy his liver over time.
After battling mine for over a year and being told that the only effective route were pills, I instead chose to rub cold pressed coconut oil on my toe after my shower each morning. It was gone in two weeks!
I have tried about everything, including Vicks and Epsom salt. Any ideas?
I've heard soaking the foot in apple cider vinegar works. A co-worker swore by it. I've never used the method myself, though, so I don't know for sure.
I'm not sure toenail fungus ever completely goes away. In the past three years I have used a doctor's prescription, a natural vinegar/herb soak, oil of oregano, tea tree oil and Vicks. I can tell when something is killing the fungus because the nail gets black in places and around the edges.
The nails are better than when I began. There are a few different fungi that can cause the disease, so I guess it is natural that one remedy works on certain kinds of nail fungus, and another remedy works better on another kind. One thing is for sure, though: All the remedies worked better than the foot doctor's expensive stuff.
Where can I get Somasin for toenail fungus?
Check out peoplespharmacy.com. It's run by 2 pharmacists who know what they're doing. Search for toenail fungus. They have lots of home remedies and people post what works and what doesn't. I've found some very good info there that I found nowhere else.
How do I get rid of toenail fungus? I have tried vinegar, tree tea oil, and Listerine. Please help.
I have toenail fungus and it's really bad. I have tried many different home ideas with no luck. I went to the doctor and he recommended Lamisil, but it has major liver effects.
How do you get rid of toenail fungus? It keeps coming back.
