Salted Caramel Chocolate Pretzel Buttons on plateThese sweet little snacks are incredibly easy to make. Hitting them with a dash of sea salt brings out the savoury in the pretzels, making this a nicely rounded off little dessert snack. They're versatile because you can use any type of candy in the middle, changing the whole flavour experience altogether. I used Caramel M&M's here. You can be picky about what colours you use to suit your event or holiday.

Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • pretzel rings
  • white chocolate
  • dark chocolate
  • caramel chips
  • caramel M&M's
  • flaked sea salt
ingredients

Steps:

  1. Melt the white chocolate at 30 second increments in the microwave until silky smooth.
  2. melting white chocolate in bowl

  3. Lay out your pretzel rings on a piece of foil or parchment paper.
  4. Pretzels laid out

  5. Gently scoop little teaspoon amounts of the melted white chocolate into the rings. Use the very tip of your spoon to push the chocolate around to meet the edges of the pretzels. This will keep them intact when they set up.
  6. Spooning white chocolate into pretzels

  7. Gently press an M&M into the center of each one.
  8. M&Ms in center of prezels

  9. Now melt some chocolate chips and caramel chips together in 30 second increments. This mixture tends to solidify more quickly, so you might want to work in smaller batches.
  10. Caramel Chocolate added to Pretzel Buttons

  11. Before the chocolate parts set up, dash a bit of flaked sea salt around the edges.

  13. You can be choosy about the colours you use to go with whatever event you're serving these at. Here are some Christmas ones!

My recipe is for chocolate dipped pretzels. I like this recipe because it is great for parties, holidays, candy baskets, and just for fun. The kids like them. I have to be careful when I make them or they will eat them all.

I bought one of those large containers of pretzels at BJ's and used 3 bags of candy melts (red, white and green) and made over 300 of these one afternoon. I used the 3 bags of melts but only half of the container of pretzels, which are great eaten by themselves as a low-fat snack. Enjoy!

This is a pie crust made out of pretzels, margarine and Splenda. We do not use margarine, but prefer to use butter. That is the only difference I have really made to this old recipe.

Sometimes I prefer to use honey instead of either Splenda or sugar.

Pretzel salad is a recipe that consists of strawberry jello, a creamy middle and a crust made from crushed pretzels. Although it is called a salad, it's really more of a dessert.

A square of pretzel salad with a strawberry jello topping.
