Save Money On Toilet Bowl Cleaner
By likekinds
In a recent post, I gave Dollar Tree's brand of household bleach a thumbs down. I'm back with a thumbs up for another of their products, toilet bowl cleaner.

This is an inexpensive, healthy, meatless meal. I used zucchini from my garden. I also had some mushrooms I had to use up, so I added those, even though the recipe didn''t call for it. These can be frozen, which means a quick breakfast for a busy mornings.
Cancer: Health Isn't The Only Price You Pay
By bbarescue
Hearing a doctor tell you the hard truth, that you have cancer, takes your breath away. After a little while it becomes abundantly clear that the initial shock is compounded by the overwhelming costs involved. It's an added stress to you and your loved ones.

These bowls are so very easy and fast to make and beautiful when lighted. Very few tools are needed. You can use a number of different colors. I think it gives your decorations a bit of elegance! Most important, everything comes from the Dollar Store!

This is a simple way to make a really cool ghost decoration for the Halloween season. When it's all done, it's just the fabric that's standing up on its own; it does not need any support. All you need is thin fabric, starch, and some objects from around the house to build upon. I used a slightly heavy linen-like cheese cloth, but you can use any thin fabric you can find.
Recycled Glass Light Fixture Terrariums
By poehere
I live on a small island in the South Pacific, where we try our best to not throw items away that we can use again. A friend of mine gave me a set of glass light fixtures that they were throwing away. At first, I had the idea to turn them upside down and put candles in the bottom of them.

I offered to bring either an appetizer or dessert to a baby shower. I always like to bring something healthy, so I thought fresh fruit. Thinking what can I do with the fruit that would be different and 'pink, so this is what I did. It was fun to make, a bit time consuming, but a beautiful presentation!

We all recycle jars, bottles, cans, and boxes every single week and I'm always trying to think of a way to re-use these items around the house. I have found several uses for clear plastic mayo jars.

This recipe uses an Instapot to make a savory and tender pot roast in under 2 hours. This is a basic, simple recipe and the results are the same as slow cooking it in a crockpot all day.
Roast Chicken and Tomato Noodle Soup
By attosa
I love to use the leftovers from my roast chickens to make soups. The carcass is used to make the stock, but the meat is set aside and dropped in at the end of the soup-making process so it stays juicy and does not lose its flavour. I came up with this when I saw my mum pushing away the meat from a chicken noodle soup, saying that all the goodness from the chicken chunks had been sucked out, leaving nothing but dry stringy squares. I think I've done that before, too! This is a wonderful and comforting soup that is very easy to make.

You get a lot of protein for the money in this recipe. I did not have frozen peas, so I used the frozen vegetables I did have. This is delicious and healthy. It makes a lot, and freezes well. I made brown rice to go with it.
Buy Cheap and Revamp Into Your Style
By 15mhhm15
I bought this chalkboard during last year's 90% Christmas sale at Target for only 30 cents (originally $3). I changed up the original bow that I did not like (which was a simple thin red bow) into this burlap bow. Now the chalkboard looks as if it was more expensive and looks nicer.
Continued Fragrance from Used Jar Candle
By Pat
I figured out that I could use the warmer setting on my stove to get the most out of a jar candle that had burned down to the point where the wick was useless. The jar still had 1/2 inch of wax left and I thought I would put it on the warmer and give it a try. Within 10 minutes, the house was filled with a lovely fragrance.

The best tip that I have heard is about how to unplug your toilet. I don't know about you, but to me a plugged toilet is the worst. Who wants to deal with peoples' ... output. I'm always afraid of it flooding over on to my bathroom floor. No fun!
By Sandi/Poor But Proud
I eat a lot of the larger Campbell's chicken noodle soup (in the 25% more cans) and mandarin oranges from The Dollar Tree. While prepping them for recycling today, it hit me. The bigger one could be a lid for the smaller one.

It seems that tomatoes all ripen at the same time. If you know you cannot use your tomatoes before they go bad, freeze them whole in a freezer bag. They can be used for cooking or making sauce. When you are ready to use them, run them under hot water and their skins will peel right off. Use the skins for tuna melt sandwiches.

Recently we were given a couple of pumpkins not in the greatest condition - they were dented, but it was perfect for the kids!
Change Decorative Colored Water Seasonally
By Sandi/Poor But Proud
I have had blue in these jars for almost two years. It's my "signature color" for my blue and yellow kitchen. But today I thought "I can have these different colors for each season, even for each holiday". So that is when I took the glass nuggets out and changed the water color.

Broiled Chili-Rubbed Chicken Thighs

I bone my own chicken thighs when they are on sale for 69 cents a pound. I save all the bones for chicken stock, so nothing goes to waste.

I'll have to admit that reading has never been my favorite thing to do and I regret it. Growing up in the country on a farm, I have always loved being outside. Now that I am retired and getting older, I have slowed down quite a bit. Resting my back is a must so I have started checking out books at the library. I have read quite a few this year.
Look for Name Brands at Thrift Stores
By Judy
I got a Michael Kors bag for $2 at the thrift store today. It is in great shape, but is a color I wouldn't pick for myself. My daughter has claimed it, and my alternate plan was to sell it on eBay. Bags like this are selling for $40-$50.

If you are having a party and need a lot of ice, use muffin tins. The full size ones are great for ice too, because you get bigger ice and it will not melt as quick.

Vaseline for Preventing Hair Dye Stains
By jen21again
Okay guys, I have been using black dye for 5+ years now and I always get covered in it, but NO MORE! Before applying, clip hairline back, and cover your face and neck entirely in Vaseline. Put on hands and arms before wearing gloves. Even hours after, a warm soapy cloth washed over stained areas, and VOILA! Gone from anywhere that's human skin.
Organizing My Outdoor Water Hose
By Ana
The water hose I had before was not long enough to do my full backyard. After purchasing my 100 foot hose, although needed, it was too much to keep the full amount at its home location. We decided to roll half at its home location and build an extension pole for the rest.
