Answers to ThriftyFun's frequently asked questions. Clarifications to common issues when using the ThriftyFun site.
Provide More Detail When Asking Questions? This is for all the people who are asking questions about their items value or even what the product might be. Please take detailed photos: not just the side of a table but the top and underneath, not just view of a bed with sheets on it but take the sheets and mattress off. Look for and take pictures of the manufacturer if you can find it and/or serial number. Take pictures of details that could make a difference in the answer, although sometimes it may be near impossible to get a good picture. Explain what you have with measurements, color, age, how it has been used and possible age or at least how long you have known it.
Viewing Posts On ThriftyFunI just learned how to view all the posts on Thriftyfun. Click on Menu. Look under Browse and click on All By Date. You will see a screen with a calendar at the top right-hand corner. Click on the highlighted dates and see what was posted on that date. It goes back to September 2000. Lots of fun to see.
ThriftyFun Updates (March 2022)We are announcing some big changes to both our newsletters and contests as of March 1st, 2022.
ThriftyFun Through the YearsHere are some shots of the website throughout the years and some history of our transformations over the time we have been online.
ThriftyFun's Founder's DayMarch 9th is ThriftyFun's Founder's Day, in remembrance of our founder and mother, Susan Sanders-Kinzel. She had learned frugal ways as a single mother and was no stranger to hard work. We would always make her take her birthday off, calling it a ThriftyFun holiday.
Garden Photo ContestAs of May 1st, we are switching our general Photo contest to focus on Garden photos. Send pictures of your spring flowers, yard improvement projects or wildlife from your garden. All will be shared in our Gardening newsletters as well as will be eligible for our monthly prize.
Question About Ellen?I just want to know how you know so much about gardening? Did you go to horticulture school or what? I love the newsletter, thanks for publishing it!

Contest and Bonus ChangesRecently we have been receiving far more submissions than is usual and our editors have had to make some hard choices about which submissions to keep. Because of this, we are announcing some new changes to our photo bonuses and contests. This should allow us to pay for the very best content we receive, while still allowing all our members to have a voice when sharing tips. Here are the changes, effective September 1st.
ThriftyFun Newsletter ProblemsWe have discovered a major glitch in our newsletter subscription service. This is affecting people who have accidentally unsubscribed from our newsletters as well as people who have tried to change their email address for newsletter delivery.
